Oil Theft War: Idjerhe Monarch Calls for National Honour for Tompolo

The traditional ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM King Obukowho Monday Whiskey, has called for a national honor to be conferred on Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for his significant contributions to combating oil theft in Nigeria. Speaking during a recent engagement, the monarch emphasized Tompolo's role in safeguarding the nation's oil assets through his pipeline surveillance contracts.

Tompolo's efforts, according to the monarch, have led to a substantial reduction in oil theft, which has historically plagued Nigeria's economy and oil sector. The gains include improved crude oil output and increased revenue generation for the government. HRM Whiskey highlighted that such a feat deserves formal recognition as it reflects commitment and patriotism.

The monarch urged the federal government to sustain and expand partnerships with community-based initiatives in tackling oil theft. He noted that involving local stakeholders who understand the terrain has proven effective in securing oil infrastructure and ensuring accountability.

King Whiskey also called on other communities and individuals to emulate Tompolo's approach by taking active roles in protecting national assets. He stressed the importance of community engagement in addressing broader security challenges in the Niger Delta region.

Tompolo's success has reignited discussions about leveraging local expertise in resolving national issues. Awarding him a national honor, according to HRM Whiskey, would not only recognize his achievements but also encourage others to support the fight against economic sabotage.
