Lafarge Africa to Open CNG Station for Sustainable Mobility Expansion

Lafarge Africa Plc, a key player in Nigeria's construction and sustainable energy sectors, has announced the launch of a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station at its Mfamosing Plant in Cross River State. The project is part of Lafarge's ambitious "Green Mobility" strategy, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by transitioning its transport and logistics operations to cleaner energy sources. Currently, over 35% of Lafarge Africa's fleet runs on CNG, and the new station will support further conversion of vehicles, thus cutting down reliance on diesel and reducing the company's environmental footprint.
Located strategically at the Mfamosing Plant, this station will fuel not only Lafarge's vehicles but could also serve other green energy projects in the area, positioning the company as a leader in sustainable practices in Nigeria's industrial sector. Lafarge Africa's commitment to renewable energy aligns with Nigeria's broader climate goals and the global push for decarbonization. By integrating CNG into its energy mix, Lafarge is set to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and serve as a model for green transitions in the Nigerian business landscape.
The Mfamosing CNG station also opens up prospects for partnerships with other industries looking to reduce their carbon footprint through alternative energy solutions. In addition to CNG, Lafarge Africa is exploring electric vehicles and biofuel options to create a robust ecosystem of sustainable energy choices for its operations across Nigeria.
Lafarge's green mobility expansion reflects its dedication to environmental stewardship and supports Nigeria's push toward sustainable development and energy efficiency. With infrastructure and transport playing crucial roles in emissions reduction, Lafarge's latest investment could inspire other companies to follow suit, contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
